Olivia March, born and raised on the east end of Long Island has been designing since she was small. Daughter of renowned watercolorist, Elisabeth Dillof, Olivia grew up in a house where boredom was unknown, due to the variety of artistic mediums afforded to her at all times. While admiring her mother’s work on the wall, Olivia realized it was more exciting to wear one’s own art and have people see your creation at all times, rather than just stand in front of a wall. Thus began a lifetime of creating images designed for apparel. While her online store may date to the 2000’s, her original shirts date back to her elementary school days. Olivia March Designs began in September 2003 when original designer, Olivia March created one of a-kind apparel for her college friends. She began the company utilizing her graphic designs and iron-on paper; however, as demand for certain designs grew Olivia March developed an online store to allow for more variety of designs and quicker production. The website was founded in 2005 and since then business has only grown. Olivia March Designs’ apparel is worn by people in over thirty US states and three continents. She has found that her shirts not only are worn for fashion, but are bought to make a statement. Olivia March, who calls t-shirts, “walking billboards” and states that t-shirts are worn in society with such regularity they should be called the “modern toga” loves that her shirts elicit power in people. Each design is original and Olivia never sells anything she would not wear herself. Her favorite design is the Icarus design of “Don’t Fly Too High” though all of her sassy women come in at a close second. |
